How sponsorship works

You choose a child

Make your first $25 monthly contribution. You are now their one and only sponsor.

Meet your child

Staff introduce you to your child: their photo, story, and background.

Send your first letter

A personal photo and short introduction. Staff translate and deliver it directly to your child.

Your child writes back

At least twice a year up to six times depending on how often you write. Staff assist younger children.

Regular updates

Progress reports, newsletters, and annual correspondence from a staff member who personally knows your child.

Special gifts

Send additional gifts for birthdays, Easter, Christmas, or specific needs. Staff purchase on your behalf.

Letters, photos, shared prayers a relationship that lasts through their 18th year and often beyond.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to be a Christian to sponsor?

No statement of faith is required. We welcome sponsors of any background who respect the Christian values of the programme and the spiritual development being offered to children.

Can my family or church group sponsor together?

Yes. Families, youth groups, and Sunday school classes may sponsor together as one sponsor unit. The child still relates to your group as their one sponsor.

How often will I hear from my child?

Your child will write at least twice a year. If you write more frequently, your child is encouraged to respond more often, up to six times per year. All letters are translated and delivered by staff.

Can I send gifts?

Yes. Additional monetary gifts are welcome for birthdays, Easter, Christmas, or specific needs. Staff purchase items on your behalf under the director’s personal oversight.

What if I need to cancel?

You may cancel your sponsorship at any time. We pray that every sponsor stays for the full journey but we understand circumstances change.

Will I meet my child?

Visits to S.D. Christ Centre are welcome. Please contact us in advance to arrange. Many sponsors have visited Uganda and described it as one of the most meaningful experiences of their lives.

Are transaction fees deducted from my $25?

No. All transaction and transfer fees are covered in full by S.D. Christ Centre’s US charity partner. Every cent of your $25 reaches your child.
