What we do
Founded on James 1:27, S.D. Christ Centre responds to Uganda’s orphan crisis through three integrated programmes each essential and reinforcing the others.
Orphanage Home
Safe housing, meals & counselling
A stable, loving home for 320 orphaned children who have nowhere else to go. Three meals a day, health monitoring, emotional care, and Christian spiritual formation.
Community School
Baby class through Primary 6
Open to both resident children and all children from poor families in the community and neighbouring districts. School fees, uniforms, and supplies fully covered.
Charity Outreach
Prevention over rescue
Monthly food support, school fees, and skills training for 10 struggling families stopping children from becoming orphans before it happens.

The Founder’s Story
Est. 2013
An act of kindness that shaped a future.
Ssemakula David was orphaned at age six. Rescued by the Bethlehem Parents School for Orphans, he was later sponsored by a visiting group from St. Bonaventure University in New York, an act of generosity that changed the entire trajectory of his life.
When a small village school was about to close, David stood up for his community and was handed its keys. With donated land and community support, he founded S.D. Christ Centre in 2013 not as a short-term aid programme, but as a place where children would be raised with dignity, education, and hope for the future.

Mid Hudson Christian Church (MHCC)
Mid-Hudson Christian Church is a non-denominational church located in Wallkill, New York. Originally founded by Pastor Don Richter and his dear wife Lois in the late 1980’s, the church has seen a total of three lead pastors over the past 30 years.
The congregation has ranged from large to small, young to old, rich and poor, but the passion for Jesus has stayed the same. Mid-Hudson has always been, and remains to be a place where people encounter Jesus in a real and tangible way.
